The thing that bothers me about the change in home jerseys is when the colour combinations are overly similar. For Cavalry v. York the other week, you had Cavalry in a dark green and white shorts v. York with white shirts and a healthy dash of green. From the stands it resulted in a match that was just a bit tougher to see clearly. Havjng Cavalry wear their red kit would have made for a much clearer difference.
Overall I feel like practicality should overrule any marketing plan, and having seen a few situations where it’s dark blue v. light blue teams I think this would be an issue with other teams too.
Perhaps less importantly I’d agree with others in that the big teams are associated with a colour strongly. Real Madrid wear white, Manchester United wear Red, Dortmund wear yellow, etc. Having the changes does dilute this to some degree and seems to run counter to what I read at the beginning of the season about how some teams wanted to stick with certain home colours (Pacific with purple, Edmonton with blue).
Love this, Michael!! Agree completely. It can be hard to watch, even from the stands, when the teams are too closely matched.
